제공)		 제목 The effects of multimodal intervention program consisting of cognitive training combined with mental stimulation and physical activity on cognitive function and everyday functioning of healthy older adults
초록 This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of multimodal intervention program consisting of cognitive training, mental stimulation, and physical activity to prevent cognitive dysfunction of older adults. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with 3 group including interventional (n=17), comparison (n=17), and control group (n=13) aged 65 years and over was adopted. The 12-week multimodal intervention involved 1) group-based cognitive training targeted multiple cognitive domains, 2) encouraging to actively participate in cognitively stimulating leisure activities available to participants, and 3) physical activities equivalent to 25,000 steps per week measured with pedometer. Comparison group received intervention combining mental stimulation and physical activities without cognitive training. The change in cognitive function was measured with Seoul Neuropsychological Screening Battery 2nd edition and everyday functioning with Korean instrumental activities of daily living. Results: Cognitive function of interventional group significantly improved more than control group (p=.005). but there were no significant changes in the measures of everyday functioning. Conclusion: This study validates cognitive training as an essential component of multimodal strategy for older adults. Nurses and health care providers can incorporate cognitive training into routine health promotion program for older adults in community-based settings.
